Common Issues and Solutions During Floor Grinding Machine Construction

When the floor grinder's lifting grinding disc spins freely without load, it may rotate smoothly at first, but you’ll notice a slight metallic clanging sound. However, as soon as the machine is placed on the ground and started, it immediately jams. At the same time, the digital display shows "EOL2," indicating that the metal cutting blades mounted on the grinding disc are incompatible with the model. Some grinding discs (magnetic type) come equipped with side-mounted three-hole metal blades—specifically, the three fixed mounting holes are positioned along one side of the blade’s central axis. Yet, during installation, users mistakenly attach either the center-three-hole or center-two-hole metal blade segments, causing these segments to protrude beyond the outer edge of the grinding disc. As the disc rotates against the floor surface for grinding, the oversized center (or center-two-hole) blade segments shift due to their larger gaps, leading to misalignment. This misplacement forces the grinding disc to collide with itself, ultimately resulting in the disc jamming—a phenomenon commonly referred to as the "grinding disc fighting." It’s important to note, however, that this "fighting" behavior is caused by improper blade installation, not by any inherent mechanical issue with the grinding disc itself. True "disc fighting"—where the gears above the disc jam due to damaged bearings or dry grinding caused by lack of lubrication in the gearbox—occurs only when the internal components fail under normal operating conditions.
