As of May 22, 26 provinces/cities/autonomous regions including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangxi, Anhui, Fujian, and Zhejiang have issued investment plans for key/major projects in 2022. According to publicly released data, the total number of major projects in the above 26 regions is about 28855, of which 18 provinces/cities/autonomous regions have a total investment of about 51.73 trillion yuan, and 22 provinces/cities/autonomous regions have a planned investment of 10.54 trillion yuan in 2022 (data source: Infrastructure), setting off a new round of infrastructure boom.

On May 20, in order to speed up the implementation of the "14th Five-Year Plan" transportation development plan and give priority to promoting the implementation of 102 major national transportation projects, the General Office of the Ministry of Transport issued the "Work Plan for the Implementation of Major Transportation Projects in the 14th Five-Year Plan" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan").



The "Plan" proposes that among the 102 major engineering projects in the "Outline" of the "14th Five-Year Plan", the transportation projects led by the Ministry of Transport are included in various engineering packages for overall promotion.

(1) National highway channel connection project. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, with the central and western regions as the focus, we will speed up the construction of national expressways to be connected, and give priority to the main lines of national expressways and inter-provincial connecting sections; the east and central regions will be the focus to promote Beijing-Shanghai, Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao, The expansion and reconstruction of the main lines of national expressways with early construction, large traffic flow, and heavy traffic congestion.

Focusing on speeding up the expansion and upgrading of the Yangtze River, Xijiang River and other large water transport channels, relieving the bottleneck constraints of the Three Gorges hub, and improving the capacity and navigation efficiency of the main waterway, we will promote the implementation of the golden waterway expansion project. It mainly includes the waterway regulation project of the section from Fuling to Fengdu and Anqing to Wuhu of the Yangtze River trunk line, the second phase of the waterway regulation project of the south channel of the Yangtze River Estuary, and the waterway project from Nanning to Wuzhou of the Xijiang shipping trunk line.
