"Putting talent first" is one of the five core principles of the "Made in China 2025" initiative. Yet, the reality is that domestic university education currently emphasizes theory while relatively neglecting practical application.
A research report on the future of manufacturing reveals that by 2020, Chinese enterprises will require 140 million highly skilled professionals, leaving a gap of approximately 22 million workers.


On one hand, there’s the disconnect between academia and industry; on the other, there’s a massive talent gap. This gap forces companies to go to great lengths in "retraining" their employees. For instance, taking the role of R&D engineers as an example, some companies find that university graduates typically require 12 to 18 months of intensive "retraining" before they’re ready to take up their positions effectively.

The editor believes that for the future of the grinding and polishing industry, an outstanding talent not only needs to master relevant grinding and polishing knowledge and be proficient in operating grinding and polishing equipment, but also must possess qualities like stress resilience, along with ample hands-on experience.
