On the morning of December 20, the ceremony celebrating the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland and the inauguration ceremony of the sixth-term government of the Macao Special Administrative Region were held. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, attended the event and delivered an important speech.
Xi Jinping: The new Macao Special Administrative Region government must unite and lead all sectors of society, seize opportunities, boldly pursue reforms, and take proactive steps to better leverage the institutional advantages of "One Country, Two Systems," continuously forging a new chapter of high-quality development for the cause of "One Country, Two Systems." Here, I would like to share four hopes:
First, we will focus on promoting moderately diversified economic development;
Second, focus on enhancing the governance effectiveness of the Special Administrative Region;
Third, we will focus on building a higher-level platform for opening up to the outside world;
Fourth, make concerted efforts to safeguard social harmony and stability.
