1. The power trowel emits black smoke during operation.
Check the power trowel to see if it has been over‑oiled; if there’s too much oil, drain some off. Another possible cause is severe wear or damage to the piston, which can lead to oil burning—replace it promptly if it’s damaged. Inspect the engine as well; if the engine itself is functioning properly, excessive oil contamination could be the issue. Oil quality is crucial, so always choose a high‑grade product and take care to avoid counterfeit or substandard oils when purchasing.
2. How to level the screed machine’s chassis screws
First, replace the four new blades and place the troweling machine on a perfectly level surface. Next, remove the rocker arm and visually check whether the four screws are at the same height; if possible, use a ruler to verify. If the heights differ, adjust them until they are equal. Then gently shake the pressure cover; if there is no wobble, the adjustment is complete. Finally, apply a thin layer of grease to the screw heads to prevent wear.
3. The power trowel keeps stalling.
Check whether the oil level is normal and whether the engine oil is too low. Some machines are equipped with an oil‑level protection system that automatically shuts off the engine when the oil level is insufficient. Additionally, disconnect the remote shutdown switch and the machine’s main shutdown switch one by one; if the engine no longer stalls after these disconnections, it indicates that there is a ground fault in that circuit. Carefully inspect and eliminate the issue.
4. The power trowel’s engine is functioning normally, but it cannot drive the trowel disc.
If the engine is functioning properly, the issue is likely due to an incorrect belt model or a belt that’s too long. If the problem persists, simply replace the clutch—this should resolve it.
5. The gasoline-powered trowel was soaked in water.
First, clean the carburetor. Then remove the spark plug and check whether water has entered the cylinder head. If water has gotten in, pull the starter handle several times to drain it out, and after changing the engine oil, see if everything is working properly.
6. The power trowel cannot rotate.
Causes: The blade may be deformed; the motor bearing is damaged; the motor bracket is not securely fastened; or there is a problem with operation.
