How should epoxy flooring be maintained on a regular basis?

After the epoxy flooring is completed and put into use, it’s essential to consistently maintain and clean it, ensuring a tidy workshop environment and truly achieving a clean production setting. At the same time, incorporating daily floor maintenance tasks into your routine management system will help extend the flooring’s lifespan, reduce the frequency of renovations, and ensure smooth production operations. Just as critical as equipment maintenance, proper flooring care plays a vital role in sustaining long-term performance. Here are some key considerations for maintaining your epoxy flooring:

1. Any sand, mud, or debris on the floor should be promptly swept away to prevent them from grinding and damaging the surface. Also, avoid direct friction of hard, sharp objects against the floor.

2. Employees should change into soft-soled shoes before entering the production area. At交接 areas and entrances/exits—places where sand and mud are likely to be tracked in—install (plastic) mats to help employees easily remove debris from their shoe soles when entering or exiting. Epoxy flooring is normally suitable for use at temperatures below 100°C; therefore, for areas that frequently require electric welding or oxy-fuel cutting, it’s recommended to lay down high-temperature-resistant isolation mats on the floor.

3. When unloading with forklifts or loaders, ensure that the goods are placed flat and use high-temperature-resistant isolation mats on the ground to prevent the cargo from tilting, dragging, or scratching the surface.

4. When operating vehicles, forklifts, and loaders, avoid emergency braking as much as possible. For all types of carts or trailers, wheels should be made of rubber and soft materials with wider contact surfaces and moderate elasticity. Always drive at slow speeds, and refrain from sudden braking or sharp turns.

5. All hard objects—such as iron chairs, iron tables, iron shelving units, and more—must have their legs wrapped with soft plastic or rubber to prevent scratching the floor during use. When lifting the machine plate off the ground, ensure it’s done fully; and when turning, pay extra attention to avoid scraping the floor with the plate’s corners.

6. Regularly clean areas prone to oil seepage or leakage with sawdust to prevent oil from oxidizing, attracting dust, and forming stubborn stains. For larger areas heavily soaked with oil, use a wide mop to gently push the sawdust across the floor, effectively absorbing and drying up the oil residue. Additionally, promptly remove any corrosive chemicals or solvents that accidentally spill onto the floor, as they can make surfaces slippery and increase the risk of injury if left unattended.

7. It is recommended to lay rubber mats or soft plastic mats on the floor of machine operating tables, as well as in areas where heavier raw materials, semi-finished products, or finished goods are stored.

8. The floor requires regular maintenance and cleaning to keep it looking neat and tidy, while also removing any hard particles that could scratch the paint film. When cleaning the floor, use a soft mop or a wet-and-dry vacuum cleaner; you may clean with plain water or a mild detergent (non-corrosive), but be mindful of the floor being slippery.
9. Before equipment is brought into the factory, lay down protective padding on the flooring to prevent scratches during transportation.
