The purpose of floor grinding is to extend the lifespan and enhance the wear resistance of the surface, while ensuring and improving the adhesion of the floor paint coating. Properly treated concrete substrates allow the primer to penetrate more deeply into the concrete surface, which plays a critical role in maximizing the overall durability of the floor paint system. Especially when the substrate is contaminated with oil or water—since oils and water have poor compatibility with coatings—it becomes difficult to form a continuous, cohesive film. Even if such a film does manage to form, its adhesion will be significantly compromised, leading to premature peeling of the coating. Similarly, if dust is present on the surface and construction proceeds directly without proper substrate preparation, it may result in minor issues like pinholes in the paint layer—or, in severe cases, even large-scale delamination, drastically shortening the service life of the floor paint. Therefore, thorough substrate preparation is essential not only for achieving a smooth, even, and aesthetically pleasing finish but also for laying a solid foundation that ensures the success of the entire floor painting project.
